Visitor Terms
These Visitor Terms apply when you use a CoatFlow visualizer, whether it appears on a contractor's website, on a page we host for a contractor, or on one of our own pages such as coatflow.io. They cover taking or uploading photos, making previews, videos and reels, creating or using a visitor account, and sending a quote or estimate request. They are an agreement between you and Jordan Levin, an individual doing business as Levology Labs and CoatFlow ("CoatFlow," "we," "us" or "our"), 31881 Via Puntero, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675.
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use it. If you use CoatFlow for a business, for example as a contractor or a contractor's employee, our Terms of Service govern that use instead.
1. Who we are and our role
CoatFlow makes visualizer software that shows what a floor coating, concrete finish, stain, fence or other surface could look like in a photo of your property. We do not sell, install or warrant any of those products, and we do not do any of that work.
- The contractor named on the page. On a contractor's website, or on a page that shows a contractor's name, we run the visualizer for that contractor. The contractor decides which products and colors to offer and whether and how to follow up with you. Any quote, estimate, site visit, contract, product, installation, warranty or message about your project comes from the contractor, not from CoatFlow, and any agreement for work is between you and the contractor. We are not a party to it. We do not check contractors' licenses, insurance or work, and we are not responsible for what a contractor says, charges or does.
- Whatever name the page shows. Some pages show only the contractor's name (for example "Powered by" the contractor). The visualizer is still CoatFlow's software, and these Visitor Terms are between you and CoatFlow. The contractor's own terms apply to your dealings with the contractor.
- CoatFlow's own demo. On the demo on coatflow.io there is no contractor. CoatFlow does not install anything, no estimate or site visit will be scheduled, and anything you send from that demo comes to CoatFlow.
- Demo pages we build for a business. We also build demo pages that show what our visualizer could look like for a particular business, using that business's name. That business does not run the page, and unless it is our customer it has not reviewed or endorsed it. A quote link on such a page takes you to that business's own website. We record activity on demo pages, as our Privacy Policy explains.
2. How you agree to these terms
You agree to these Visitor Terms, and acknowledge our Privacy Policy, when you tap or click a button next to a notice that says so. Today those are the Create account, Sign in and Continue with Google buttons on the sign-in page a visualizer opens (which you need for walkthrough videos, reels and saved previews), and the button that sends a quote or estimate request. Each time you use one of those buttons, you agree to the version of these terms posted at that time. If you do not agree, do not use those features. Whether or not you use them, our Privacy Policy explains how we handle the photos and information you give a visualizer.
You must be at least 18 to create a visitor account or to send a quote or estimate request. Anyone under 18 may use the visualizer only with a parent's or guardian's permission. The visualizer is not meant for children under 13.
3. Previews are illustrations, not quotes
Every preview, video and reel is an AI-generated illustration. It is not a quote, a measurement, a color match, a sample, a design plan or a promise of how finished work will look.
- Colors, textures, flake sizes and sheen are approximations. Screens and lighting vary. Ask the contractor for physical samples before you choose.
- The size, shape, edges, cracks, drains, slopes and condition of your surface may be shown wrongly, and the AI can change or leave out details. The contractor's own measurement and inspection decide what can be done and what it costs.
- Videos and reels can add, remove or change objects, people, walls, furniture, plants and surroundings that are not in your photo, and camera movement can show areas your photo did not.
- Fence previews do not show property lines, setbacks, easements, permits, building codes or HOA rules, and any length or count is an estimate. Check those with the contractor and your local authorities before you build.
- Any price range shown is a rough figure worked out from the contractor's settings and what you entered. It is not a quote or an offer. Only the contractor can give you a price.
- Product names, colors, systems and offers shown on a contractor's page come from that contractor or its suppliers. Confirm them with the contractor.
Do not present a preview, video or reel as a photo of finished work.
4. Your photos
Take or upload only photos that you have the right to use, of property you own or rent, or that the owner has allowed you to photograph. You keep ownership of your photos, and you are responsible for what you upload.
- Avoid identifiable people. The best photo is of the space alone. If a person can be recognized in your photo, you must have their permission.
- Never upload a photo that shows the face of anyone under 18.
- Never upload anything unlawful, sexual or nude, violent or gory, hateful or harassing, or anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights.
- Where you can, leave out private details such as documents, screens and license plates.
5. What you let us do with your photos
You give CoatFlow a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, copy, process, adapt and transmit your photos, and the previews, videos and reels made from them, only to:
- make the previews, videos and reels you ask for, and show them to you;
- save them to your visitor account if you are signed in, so you can see them on any device;
- send them to service providers that help us run the visualizer, including AI image and video processing providers and cloud hosting;
- share them with the contractor named on the page when you sign up or send a quote or estimate request on that contractor's page, as the page tells you;
- check quality, fix problems, and detect, investigate and prevent abuse, fraud and security issues, which can include a person on our team looking at them; and
- comply with the law and protect people's rights and safety.
We do not use your photos, previews, videos or reels in CoatFlow's advertising, marketing or examples unless you separately agree, and we do not sell them.
This permission lasts for the periods in our Privacy Policy and then ends. In short:
- Photos and previews made on a contractor's visualizer or a demo page, including our server copies of them: 90 days.
- Previews saved to your visitor account: while your account is open. You can delete saved previews yourself in the visualizer. That removes them from your account, and the server copy in the line above follows its own 90-day schedule.
- Photos, previews and details sent with a quote request or sign-up: held for the contractor while it is our customer, plus 90 days after its account closes, unless the contractor asks us to delete them sooner. The contractor may keep its own copy under its own policies.
- Copies kept in your own browser: until you clear them.
We may keep something longer when we need it for a legal claim, a security investigation or a legal hold.
6. Videos, reels and the instructions you type
Some visualizers let a signed-in visitor make a short walkthrough video or a reel from a preview, and some let you type instructions for the video. When you do:
- Make videos and reels only from previews you made with the visualizer on that page. Do not try to animate any other image.
- Use instructions to describe the camera move or the scene, such as a slow push in or a pan across the floor.
- Do not ask for, or try to make, anything that shows, adds or changes a real, identifiable person; involves anyone under 18; is sexual, nude, violent, hateful or harassing; impersonates someone or is meant to deceive, such as a fake finished job, a fake review or a fake news image; infringes someone's rights; or promotes illegal activity.
- Do not try to get around safety filters, limits or sign-in, including by wording instructions to trick the AI.
Results may not follow your instructions and may include things you did not ask for (see section 3). We or our providers may block an instruction or a result, and we may review instructions and results to enforce these rules.
Reels can include the contractor's name and logo, music, and other material made by others under their own licenses. Those licenses, not these terms, govern that material. Check any suggested caption before you post a reel, and do not post one that calls a preview finished work.
7. Rules for using the visualizer
You will not, and will not help anyone else to:
- break the law or these terms;
- upload malware, or use the visualizer to store or share files that have nothing to do with visualizing a property;
- use bots, scrapers or scripts, send automated or bulk requests, or get around limits, sign-in, access rules or security;
- probe, overload or reverse engineer the visualizer, or try to extract its software or the technology behind it;
- copy the visualizer or use it to build a competing product;
- pretend to be someone else, give false contact details, or send a request for someone else without their permission; or
- send spam or abuse to a contractor through a request form.
We may remove or refuse any photo, preview, video, reel or instruction; limit or block access by device, account or network; and suspend or close an account, if we believe in good faith that these terms or the law have been broken, or that it is needed to protect people or the visualizer. We report illegal content where the law requires, including apparent child sexual abuse material, which we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and preserve as the law requires.
8. Visitor accounts
- You must be at least 18 to create a visitor account. One account is for one person.
- A visitor account is a CoatFlow account, not an account with the contractor. The same account works on every visualizer we run.
- Give accurate details, keep your password and email account secure, and do not share your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. Tell us at jordan@coatflow.org if you think someone else used it.
- If you use Continue with Google, Google's terms also apply to your Google account.
- A mobile number you add on a contractor's page is saved to your account. When you sign up or sign in on a page that says the contractor receives your details, that contractor receives your name, email address and the mobile number saved on your account. Agreement to receive texts never carries over from one contractor to another.
- To close your account, email jordan@coatflow.org from the address on the account with the subject "Delete my account." Once we have verified the request, we delete your account, its saved previews and the activity linked to it within 45 days, except what our Privacy Policy says we keep longer, such as records of text-message consent and opt-outs. Details already sent to a contractor are in that contractor's records: ask the contractor to delete them, and if you ask, we will pass your request on to that contractor.
- If a contractor's representative shows you the visualizer on the contractor's own phone or tablet, that session belongs to the contractor. Photos and previews made on it may stay on the device and in the contractor's account, and the contractor is responsible for telling you how it uses them. Ask the representative to delete them if you prefer.
9. Quote requests, sign-ups and texts from contractors
- When you send a quote or estimate request, or sign up on a page that says the contractor receives your details, we deliver what you enter (such as your name, phone number, email, address, project details and notes) and the photos and previews you attach to the contractor named on the page. A copy of your photo, resized on your device, may be included so the contractor can see the space.
- A request is not an appointment or a contract. The contractor decides whether and when to respond, and an appointment is set only when the contractor confirms it. The contractor may call or email you about your request using the details you gave.
- From then on, the contractor's own privacy policy and terms govern what it does with your details. CoatFlow does not control that.
- The details you send must be yours, or given with the other person's permission.
Texts from contractors. Some pages offer a box you can tick to agree to receive texts from the contractor. Ticking it is optional. It is not required to make a preview, create an account, send a request or buy anything. If you tick it, you agree to texts from that contractor only, as described next to the box. It does not let CoatFlow or any other contractor text you.
Those texts are the contractor's own messages, even if a service provider helps send them. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to the contractor's texts to stop them, or contact the contractor directly. If texts about a request you made through our visualizer do not stop, email us and we will pass your request on to the contractor. Texts that CoatFlow itself sends are covered by our Text Message Terms.
10. Free to use, with limits
- The visualizer is free for visitors. Contractors pay us for it.
- We may limit how many previews, videos and reels a person, device, account or network can make, and a page may ask you to sign in or give contact details before you can make more. We may change these limits at any time.
- We may change, pause or stop any feature, or the whole visualizer, at any time, and a contractor may remove the visualizer from its page. If we plan to stop offering visitor accounts, we will tell account holders in advance where we reasonably can, so they can save copies of their previews.
- Keep your own copy of anything you want to keep. We do not promise to keep saved previews beyond the periods in our Privacy Policy.
11. Who owns what
- CoatFlow owns the visualizer, its software and design, and the CoatFlow name. Contractors and their suppliers own their names, logos, product names and color charts.
- You may save, download and share the previews, videos and reels you make for your own personal use, such as planning your project, talking with the contractor, or sharing with family and friends or on social media. Using them to advertise or sell anything needs permission from us and from the contractor whose brand appears.
- AI output may not be protected by copyright, and similar output can be made for other people, so we do not promise that anything you make is unique or yours alone.
- If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
12. Disclaimers
The visualizer, and every preview, video and reel, is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the visualizer will be accurate, always available, secure or free of errors, or that saved content will never be lost. We make no promise about any contractor or any contractor's products or work. Some places do not allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you.
13. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, CoatFlow is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or the cost of substitute goods or services, arising from these terms or your use of the visualizer. Our total liability for all claims about the visualizer is limited to the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Visitors pay us nothing, so for most visitors the limit is $100.
We are not responsible for any contractor's quotes, products, work, warranties, messages or conduct.
These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, willful injury, gross negligence or violation of law where California Civil Code section 1668 or other law does not allow it, or takes away any right you have as a consumer that the law says cannot be waived. If a limit cannot apply in full, it applies to the fullest extent the law allows.
If someone brings a claim against us because of photos or instructions you uploaded in breach of these terms, or because you broke the law, you are responsible for the reasonable losses and costs that claim causes us, to the extent the law allows.
14. Disputes
If something goes wrong, email us at jordan@coatflow.org first. Most problems can be fixed that way.
- Notice first. Before either of us files a claim, the one with the claim sends the other a written notice describing it and what they want, and we both try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days. Send notice to us at jordan@coatflow.org or our postal address. We send notice to you at the email address you gave us. Any deadline for filing is paused during those 30 days. This step does not apply to a request for an urgent court order to stop a security attack or misuse of intellectual property.
- California law. These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you live outside California, you keep any protections of your home state's law that cannot be waived by agreement.
- Courts. Claims go to the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
- Small claims. Either of us may always bring a qualifying claim in small claims court, including a small claims court where you live, after the notice step above.
- No arbitration. Disputes are decided in court, not by arbitration, and nothing in these terms waives a right to a jury trial.
- Individual claims. To the extent permitted by law, claims must be brought individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in a class or representative action.
- Time limit. To the extent permitted by law, a claim must be filed within one year after the person bringing it knew or reasonably should have known of it, unless applicable law requires a longer period.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Visitor Terms. We post each new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will email visitor account holders at least 30 days before it applies to their accounts, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. Changes apply going forward only and never to a dispute that arose before the change. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the visualizer, and you can close your account under section 8.
16. General terms
- These Visitor Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and CoatFlow about your use of the visualizer as a visitor. Our Text Message Terms also apply to texts CoatFlow itself sends.
- If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, that part applies to the fullest extent allowed and the rest stays in effect.
- If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to someone who takes over the visualizer, and they will be bound by them.
- We may send you notices about your account and these terms by email.
- Nobody other than you and CoatFlow has rights under these terms.
- Sections that by their nature should last after you stop using the visualizer, such as sections 5, 11, 12, 13 and 14, continue to apply.
17. Contact, copyright and abuse reports
Jordan Levin, doing business as Levology Labs and CoatFlow, 31881 Via Puntero, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675. Email: jordan@coatflow.org.
- Copyright. If you believe something on a CoatFlow visualizer infringes your copyright, follow the notice steps in the copyright and abuse reports section of our Terms of Service. We remove material when the law requires, and we close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
- Abuse. To report a photo, preview, video, reel or instruction that breaks these terms, for example an intimate image shared without consent or anything involving a child, email jordan@coatflow.org with the subject "Abuse report" and the page or link if you have it. We act on valid reports promptly, and we aim to remove intimate images shared without consent within 48 hours of a valid request.
- Accessibility. If a disability makes the visualizer hard to use, see our Accessibility statement or email us and we will help.
